Join Cong to stay out of jail: Union minister to Jagan

HYDERABAD: Union Minister of State for Railways,Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy,Sunday created a controversy when he said Kadapa MP and YSR Congress chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will remain in jail till the CBI completes probe but may be spared if he rejoins the Congress. He immediately clarified his statement saying that he meant that with the ongoing CBI probe,he may not come out of jail soon and that he has a better chance as a politician in the Congress than leading his own party.

TN cracker making unit explosion kills 3

SIVAKASI: Three persons were killed and five injured in an explosion at a cracker manufacturing unit at Narayanapuram village here Sunday,the police said. The victims were engaged in making crackers when the explosion occurred due to friction between chemicals,they said. The unit was damaged under the impact of the explosion. The injured have been admitted to a hospital. It is being probed if the unit had the licence to manufacture crackers,the police said.

Scribe killed by PLFI men in Jharkhand

KHUNTI: A journalist has been killed by the ultras of the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) here,the police said. Jitendra Kumar Singh,who was working with a Hindi newspaper in Murhu,was gunned down by PLFI activists Saturday,the police said. A note left by the PLFI claimed responsibility for Singh’s murder.

Youth arrested in Bengal,arms seized

BURDWAN: A youth,suspected to be a member of an inter-state gang of arms smugglers,was arrested Sunday after a cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from him at the railway station here,the police said. Gautam Yadav,who hails from Bihar,was arrested from Jamalpur Express,said Promodesh Saha,railway station GRP officer-in-charge. He was going to deliver the arms to a Kolkata-based businessman.
