Maoists abduct 11 Bihar villagers
BHABUA BIHAR: Armed Maoists kidnapped 11 villagers from Loda village in Kaimur district and also took away their licensed weapons,police said on Monday. They also took away the licensed firearms of the villagers. The Special Task Force of the police assisted by CRPF combed nearby areas in search of the villagers.
8 cops suspended for beating BJP MLA
DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand Monday suspended eight policemen,including a sub-inspector,for allegedly beating up BJP MLA Rajkumar in Dehradun Sunday night,SP Abhinav Kumar said. The suspended policemen had stopped Rajkumar8217;s car due a traffic snarl caused by a road accident in Premnagar. This led to heated arguments,following which the policemen dragged Rajkumar out of the vehicle and beat him up.
Aradhana hardly knew Ruchika: Abha
CHANDIGARH: As Punjab and Haryana High Court Monday resumed hearing on S P S Rathore8217;s revision petition challenging his conviction in Ruchika molestation case,his lawyer wife Abha claimed the sole witness,Aradhana,hardly knew the victim,despite her claims that she was close friends with Ruchika. To support her argument,Abha said Aradhana 8220;is not even aware of Ruchikas pet name,Ruby8221;.
Infant falls from bus window,survives
VALSAD: A five-month-old infant had a miraculous escape after falling from the window of a speeding luxury bus travelling from Pune to Rajasthan in Valsad district. The infant was sleeping with his mother,when accidentally he fell from the window of the bus they were travelling in, police said,adding Sandeep was rushed to Kasturba district hospital. He sustained minor head injuries and was declared out of danger by doctors.
Congress wants Punjab Speaker to go
NEW DELHI: Congress Monday demanded that Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon quit following a charge-sheet against him in connection with an alleged scam in the recruitment of panchayat secretaries during his tenure as rural development and panchayati raj minister in the previous Akali Dal regime. 8220;How can such a person maintain the dignity of such an institution? Congress demands the Speaker should immediately resign,8221; Congress spokesman Manish Tewari said.
Glitch in JEE course allocation
NEW DELHI: Joint Admission Board JAB has said that errors in the course allocation for JEE 2010 released on 28th June 2010 wrongly allocated seats to 52 students who did not qualify in the Architecture/Design aptitude test. These students were inadvertently included in seat allotment for B. Arch and B. Des courses and will not get any allotment now,the JEE website says. However,they will be automatically considered for the second allotment based on the choice-sheets already submitted by them during the counselling process.
Ex-ministers son held for threatening cop
VADODARA: Son of former Union Minister and Congress leader Naran Rathwa was Monday arrested for allegedly trying to attack a policemen in Vadodara in Gujarat. 8220;Sangramsinh Rathwa tried to attack a constable with a sharp weapon. He was enraged over police taking his friend into custody for cornering seats in a local train,8221; Inspector B M Tank said.
