Cash-for-vote accused wears Anna cap in court
New Delhi: Anna Hazare on Friday had a supporter in Suhail Hindustani,a key accused in 2008 cash-for-vote scam who appeared in a Delhi court wearing a cap with Mai Anna Hoon written on it. Hindustani,who appeared before Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal during the proceedings on his bail plea,donned the Anna cap after the court resumed the hearing in the post-lunch session. Mai Anna Hoon I am Anna, Hindustani said when police personnel took him out of the courtroom.
Girls hand chopped off,mother injured
Agartala: A 16-year old girl had her hand sliced off and her mother hacked repeatedly allegedly by the girls private tutor in Dhalai district of Tripura,police said on Friday. One Sanjoy Das 40 allegedly pounced on 16-year-old girl Susmita and her mother Rina Das with a sharp weapon and chopped off Susmitas hand on the outskirts of subdivisional town of Kamalpur on Thursday. Sanjoy,now in custody,consumed poison afterwards and is being treated. Inquiries revealed Susmita had spurned Sanjoys advances.
HC refuses to quash FIR against BSY
BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Friday rejected former chief minister B S Yeddyurappas plea,seeking quashing of FIR against him by the Lokayukta Police on a private complaint alleging financial irregularities in Upper Bhadra Irrigation Project. The order was passed by a Bench of Justices K L Manjunath and H S Kempanna. The complaint was filed by JDS leader Y S V Dutta in the Lokayukta court,which then ordered a probe on August 8.
RSS files case against Digvijaya
ALLAHABAD: A defamation suit has been filed by the RSS against Congress leader Digvijaya Singh for accusing the organisation of terror-related activities. The suit has been filed by Sunil Singh,caretaker of Kesar Bhawan,the main office of the RSS here. The petitioner alleged that by referring to the RSS as bomb-making factory in Ujjain in July,Singh had defamed the organisation.
