Cant be forced to give blood sample: Tiwari

NEW DELHI: Veteran Congress leader N D Tiwari filed his personal affidavit in the Delhi High Court on Thursday and said he cannot be forced to give his blood sample for the DNA test. Citing his long political and social background,Tiwari said any coercion was a breach of his right to privacy and that he was also not well. Justice Gita Mittal,who is hearing the contempt plea filed by 32-year-old Rohit Shekhar,who claims to be the Tiwaris biological son,adjourned the matter till July 28.

22 more UP cops faint during physical test

LUCKNOW: The ongoing physical ability test for the promotion to sub-inspector rank continued causing trouble,as 22 fainted while taking the test at the Azamgarh police lines on Thursday. A head constable died and 23 others had taken ill during the test on Wednesday. Azamgarh SP Bhagwan Swaroop said of the 98 candidates participating in the 10-km run,several started giving up after the third kilometre,and 22 fainted. They were all rushed to hospital,from where one of the constables was referred to Lucknow due to his critical condition,the SP said.

Speaker asks MLAs to declare assets

PATNA: Bihar assembly speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary on Thursday asked all the members of the House to declare their movable and immovable assets,as it had become necessary for the representatives to maintain transparency in public life. Choudhary said,All the MLAs have already submitted the details of assets in the format prescribed by the Election Commission at the time of contesting the elections during nominations in October-November 2010. The members are suggested to make the details,which would be made available to the public on the Vidhan Sabha website,available by December 31 every year from this year,Choudhary said.

Prajapati case: CBI seizes CID computers

AHMEDABAD: The CBI has taken into custody some computers from the office of the state CID in Gandhinagar,saying it contained crucial data pertaining to the 2006 Tulsi Prajapati fake encounter case. The computers,seized by CBI on Wednesday,were used by IPS officer,Geeta Johri,who was then probing the case,CBI sources said. Following Supreme Court orders,the CBI had on April 29 registered an FIR into the December 2006 encounter of Prajapati and initiated a probe in the case.

Four held for attack on RJD MPs house

CHAPRA: Four persons were arrested on Thursday in connection with the attack on the house of RJD Lok Sabha member Uma Shanker Singh in Bihars Saran district,a senior police official said. Acting on the basis of an FIR,four persons were picked up during raids,SP A K Satyarthy said. Those who were taken into custody were identified as Abhinash Rai,Nilesh Rai,Mahesh Rai and Devendra Singh.
