The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has postponed the release date of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 admit card. Initially, it was set to release on January 2, as per the tentative schedule. Once issued, registered candidates will be able to download their hall tickets from the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal using their login credentials.

“The release date of the GATE 2026 admit card has been postponed. The revised release date will be announced soon,” a statement on the official website read.

Steps to download GATE 2026 admit card

Candidates can follow the steps given below to download the GATE 2026 admit card once it is released:

Step 1: Visit the official website at gate2026.iitg.ac.in

Step 2: Click on the GOAPS Application Portal link available on the homepage

Step 3: Log in using your enrolment ID or registered email ID and password

Step 4: Click on the GATE 2026 admit card link on the candidate dashboard

Step 5: Check all the details mentioned on the hall ticket carefully

Step 6: Download and take a printout of the admit card for future reference and exam-day use

Candidates must note that the admit card is an essential document for entry to the examination hall, and are required to carry a printed copy along with a valid photo identity proof on the exam day.

The admit card will carry key information including the candidate’s name, registration number, paper code, examination centre address, date and time of the test, photograph, signature and important exam-day instructions.

The GATE 2026 examination will be conducted in two shifts on each exam day, following the standard pattern used in previous years. Each paper will be held for a duration of three hours (180 minutes). The forenoon shift is expected to be conducted from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, while the afternoon shift will likely be held from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The exact shift timing allotted to each candidate will be mentioned on the GATE 2026 admit card, along with reporting time and exam centre details.
