SC seeks response on Aarakshan ban

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday sought response from the Centre and Uttar Pradesh government on filmmaker Prakash Jhas petition challenging the state governments decision to ban the screening of Aarakshan. A bench of Justices Mukundkam Sharma and A R Dave issued notice to the Centre and the state asking them to file their response by Friday.

Kerala Cong sends Cabinet to IIM-K

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of the 100-day programme announced by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy,the state Congress is sending its 20-strong Cabinet for one-day management development programme at IIM-Kozhikode. Christened as governance insight for transformation,the crash course,led by IIM-K faculty,would be held on Thursday. Discussions would be held on agriculture,infrastructure development,environment,education and health.

4 killed in Assam floods,IAF called in

GUWAHATI: At least four persons died and several were reported missing when a flash flood hit Tokobari village in Dhemaji district in eastern Assam on Monday. The Indian Air Force has been requisitioned for rescue operations,reaching over 200 people from inundated villages. While residents of 18 houses in Tokobari were directly affected,eight others were washed away.
