14-day remand for Verma,wife

NEW DELHI: Businessman Abhishek Verma,arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case on August 22,was sent to 14-day judicial custody on Monday,after the ED informed the court that it had completed its interrogation of Verma and his wife Anca Maria Neascu. The two have now been sent in judicial custody till September 10.

AI withdraws plea against IPG

NEW DELHI: Air India on Monday withdrew its plea for initiation of contempt proceedings against the office-bearers of Indian Pilots Guild IPG for allegedly obstructing the implementation of its order on training of pilots for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Patnaik as SIT chief: SC hearing on Sept 3

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday fixed September 3 to hear a plea of Maharashtra government to retain Arup Patnaik as chief of SIT probing disproportionate assets case against former Mumbai Congress chief Kripashankar Singh. The request was made since Patnaik was transferred amid criticism of his failure to prevent the Azad Maidan violence.
