FY13 indirect tax collection exceeds target: Bose

Kolkata: The indirect tax collection for 2012-13 has exceeded the revised target of Rs 4.6 lakh crore,revenue secretary Sumit Bose said on Friday. However,he did not give a specific number,saying that it could be known only after April 20,when the annual figures are announced.

S Gopalakrishnan new president of CII

New Delhi: S Gopalakrishnan,co-founder and executive co-chairman of Infosys,has been elected as the president of Confederation of Indian Industry CII for the year 2013-14. He succeeds Adi Godrej,chairman of the Godrej Group,CII said in a statement.

FM may attend DEA annual retreat

New Delhi: Finance minister P Chidambaram is likely to attend the annual retreat function of the department of economic affairs DEA officials on Saturday,a senior finance ministry official said. DEA secretary Arvind Mayaram is also expected to attend the event.

Tourists can buy INR against debit cards

Mumbai: The Reserve Bank has allowed authorised money changers AMCs to sell Indian rupees to foreign tourists against international debit cards. It has been decided that AMCs may sell Indian rupees to foreign tourists/visitors against international credit cards/ international debit cards, RBI said in a notification.

Renew licences: IRDA to life insurers

New Delhi: Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Irda has said life insurers will be given a one-time chance to renew dormant licences by this year-end. It has been decided to grant one-time chance to all insurers to float campaigns to renew the archived agency licences, Irda said in a circular.
