Changes in capital gains tax to benefit taxpayers: FinMin

New Delhi: The Finance Ministry has said that tweaking of the capital gains tax structure,as proposed in the revised draft of the Direct Taxes Code DTC,will benefit taxpayers. We have devised the new structure in a such a way that it would remain beneficial for the taxpayers8230; the burden would reduce, a senior finance ministry official said,elaborating on the changes proposed in the revised draft.

CMIE pegs GDP growth at 9.2 pc

MUMBAI: The economy is likely to clock 9.2 per cent growth this fiscal on the back of a robust 5.8 per cent spike in agriculture and allied sectors,as well as a good show by industrial,services and manufacturing sectors,the leading economic think-tank CMIE said. The CMIE has been maintaining this growth forecast since March this year. We expect gross domestic product to grow by 9.2 per cent in 2010-11 compared to a 7.4 per cent in 2009-10, the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy said in its report on the state of the domestic economy.

12th Plan to retain 4 farm growth target

New Delhi: The Planning Commission on Thursday said the 12th Plan is likely to retain the farm growth target at 4 per cent,as the previous two Plans failed to achieve it. The 4-per cent agriculture growth is a good target for the 12th Plan 2012-17,which could not be achieved so far,as envisaged in the 11th Plan 2007-12,8221; Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia said.

RIM launches BlackBerry 8530

Mumbai: Cellular service provider Tata Teleservices Limited TTL and Research In Motion have come up with BlackBerry Curve 8530 smartphone for the CDMA customers on Tata Indicom network. The handset will be available at all authorised Tata Indicom retail stores across the country and will have a combination of pre-paid and post-paid plans,Tata Indicom said.

Reliance Power supply starts at 2nd Rosa unit

New Delhi: Anil Ambani-promoted Reliance Power on Thursday said it had started commercial generation from the 300-mw second unit of the Rosa power plant in Uttar Pradesh. The developer began power supply from the first unit on December 28. The second unit of the Rosa power project was successfully synchronised to the UP state grid on June 15, the company said.
