3G auction to fetch Rs 25k cr,says Raja
COIMBATORE: The much-awaited auction of radio waves for third generation mobile phone services,or 3G,is expected to garner at least Rs 25,000 crore from private bidders,union communications and IT minister,A Raja said here on Saturday. As the government has decided to hold the auction by February end,it is expecting to fetch the amount as a one-time payment from the bidders, he told reporters here. The government expects to garner 35,000 crore from sale of spectrum in this fiscal.
Playwin ties up with UK firm Sportech PLC
MUMBAI: Playwin,Indias largest gaming and lottery company,has entered into a joint venture with Sportech PLC,UKs leading football gaming business company and owner of The New Football Pools. This association will enable Playwin to offer games which will be specifically tailored for the Indian audience. The new games are expected to be launched in Spring 2010 with new prediction and fantasy games initially centred around the most popular sports of cricket,football and F1 motorsport.
Mercator gets $225 mn contract
MUMBAI: Mercator Lines Ltd,Indias 2nd largest private sector shipping company (in terms of tonnage),has signed a long-term (7 years) contract to charter out a Mobile Offshore Production Unit and a Floating Storage and offloading Unit through its wholly owned subsidiary in Singapore. The charter is expected to commence from September 2010 and the estimated value of the contract is about $225 million (Rs 1000 crore). PTI
