Thanks to a buoyant economy and rise in profits, nearly 100 companies gave bonus shares in 2010,the highest in the last decade.
In 2010,we have seen record bonus issues from Indian companies since market had the biggest ever bull run 13,000 points between April 2009 and October 2010, CNI Research Kishor chairman amp; managing director P Ostwal said.
The 97 companies that have announced bonus issues so far include Bajaj Auto,Britannia Industries,Castrol,Dabur India,Engineers India,Rallis India,Sterlite Industries,TVS Motors,Wipro and Zee Entertainment. An interesting aspect of this surge is that it is dominated by mid and small-sized companies.
