The actress from down South,Priyamani wants to be recognised by B-town filmmakers.
Actress Priyamani may be unheard and unknown in the Hindi film fraternity, but is already a big name down South. She has appeared in movies of various languages ranging from Tamil and Telugu to Malayalam and Kannada. In 2006,she bagged a National Film Award for Best Actress for her role as Muththazhagu in the Tamil film Paruthi Veeran.
Priyamani now wants to carve a niche in Bollywood. The actress, who grew up watching Hindi films, counts Amitabh Bachchan,Shah Rukh Khan,Hrithik Roshan,Kajol,Sridevi,Kareena Kapoor as her favourite actors. Previously seen in Raavan as Abhishek Bachchans sister,Priyamani was also a part of Ram Gopal Varmas Rakht Charitra-2. The movie might have gone unnoticed, but the actress is hoping to get some offers from B-town filmmakers.
Talking about RGV and Vivek Oberoi, she says,I was a bit nervous about working with Ram Gopal Varma. I didnt know how he functions. But people said that he was a chilled-out person. And he sure was. Working with him was great. During rehearsals,he would ask us to get into our characters and would show the right way to do it. He would take the scene ahead only after we gave proper expressions. At times he would also help us to improve our body-language and gestures. As far as Vivek is concerned,I didnt have any sequences with him,but I met him during the films press conference in Mumbai and audio launch down South. I interacted with him and found him really sweet. He is a very down-to-earth person.
Ask her if she has seen any of RGVs earlier movies and the actress quips that she loved watching Bhoot. She finds the movie super-spooky and likes Urmila Matondkars performance.
