Blast in Pune defence lab

Explosion inside the High Energy Material Research Laboratory HEMRL in Sutarwadi sent panic waves as residents in nearby areas experienced loud noise and tremors on Wednesday afternoon. Confirming the explosion,that took place around 3:45 pm,a Defence Research and Development Organisation DRDO spokesperson said,It occurred when an experimental propellant composition was being mixed around 3:45 pm. The roof of the building was blown off.

Later,HEMRL issued a press note saying,The mixing process is remote controlled and located in another building outside the traverse. All safety norms were followed and nobody was in the mixer room. In the explosion,the roof of the building was blown off. However,there is no casualty,no one is injured and there is no damage to the facility. The standing safety board of HEMRL is conducting an enquiry,it was stated.
