Vidyut Jammwal is once again making headlines for a bold Instagram post in which he is seen climbing a tree bare-bodied. Sharing the video, the actor revealed that the act was part of his yogic practice of Sahaja. The post received mixed reactions online—while some hailed him as a legend, others questioned his action. However, Vidyut has been practising this ritual for over a decade and has always remained unapologetic about it.
On Saturday, the actor shared a video showing him bare-bodied while climbing a tree and later burying himself in a snow-filled region—both part of his annual routine as a Kalaripayattu practitioner.
Explaining the practice, Vidyut wrote, “As a Kalaripayattu practitioner, I delve into the yogic practice of Sahaja once a year. Sahaja means returning to a state of natural ease and instinct, fostering a deeper connection to nature and inner awareness.”

He further added, “Scientifically, it activates numerous neuroreceptors and proprioceptors, enhancing sensory feedback and improving balance and coordination. This leads to greater body awareness, heightened mental focus, and a profound sense of grounding.”
The post drew reactions from fans as well as industry friends, including Kubbra Sait. While Kubbra commented “Maad!” in awe, a fan wrote, “U r real life inspiring man such extraordinary man always proud as Indian and last not least such a great actor good luck.” Another fan added, “Always in your own league, doing your own thing!”
Several fans also came out in Vidyut’s defence, warning trolls against misinterpreting the post. One comment read: “For all the negative people: Before turning discipline into jokes or sexualising something you don’t understand, pause and read the context. This is not about nudity or shock value—it’s about training, awareness, and mastery over the body and mind. Mockery often comes from ignorance, and sexualisation comes from a lack of self-control—both reflect the commenter, not the practice.”
When Vidyut Jammwal shared a similar post in 2023
This is not the first time Vidyut has gone viral for similar reasons. In 2023, he shared a series of pictures calling it his “retreat to the Himalayan ranges.” The post showed him sitting bare-bodied, taking a dip in icy waters, and cooking his own meals. He claimed the retreat had been part of his routine for the past 14 years.

“My retreat to the Himalayan ranges—‘the abode of the divine’—started 14 years ago. Before I realised, it became an integral part of my life to spend 7–10 days alone every year,” he wrote.
That post, too, attracted severe backlash. However, Vidyut stood by it, and it still remains on his Instagram page.
Speaking about the virality of such posts, Vidyut said in an interview with Faisu on his YouTube channel, “As humans, we often get used to luxury and comfort. Especially when you become an actor, you don’t find time for yourself. So once a year, I take out a few days where I live in the woods. I pitch my own tent and live that life.”
Vidyut Jammwal has been trained in Kalaripayattu since the age of three at an ashram in Palakkad run by his mother. Before entering films, he travelled to several countries training with martial artists across disciplines, many rooted in Kalaripayattu.
Kalaripayattu is one of the oldest Indian martial arts, originating on the southwestern coast of India around the third century.
Known for frequently sharing videos and photos of his martial arts practice and adventures, Vidyut began his journey as a stuntman before taking on small roles in films and television. He enjoys a strong following among martial arts enthusiasts, with some fans even adopting similar Sahaja rituals inspired by him. Years ago, one such fan had shared a video replicating the actor’s practice, further highlighting Vidyut’s influence beyond cinema.
