BJP differs with SAD on Bhullar

The BJP differed with its ally Shiromani Akali Dal on the latters demand for commutation of pro-Khalistani terrorist Devinder Pal Singh Bhullars death sentence.

The BJP on Monday differed with its ally Shiromani Akali Dal SAD on the latters demand for commutation of pro-Khalistani terrorist Devinder Pal Singh Bhullars death sentence.

The main Opposition party which has always used the delay in hanging Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru to accuse the Congress of playing vote-bank politics found itself in a tricky situation after the SAD sought the Prime Ministers intervention to save the life of Bhullar, whose mercy plea has been rejected by President Pratibha Patil.

Finding itself in a spot, the BJP made it clear that it believes terrorists have no religion. Our position on terrorism and terrorists is very well-known. We dont think terrorism has any religion or colour. Terrorists are anti-national and should be punished according to the law, party spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said.
