An alert has been issued in North and South 24-parganas,East Midnapore,Howrah,Hooghly of West Bengal,and people have been asked to move to safer places as a weakened cyclone Laila may be moving towards the state. Finance Minister Asim Dasgupta said the cyclone,which was lying centred 200 km away from Machhlipattinam in Andhra Pradesh,could move towards the Bengal coast. Heavy rain has been forecast in coastal areas from Friday evening.
