Railways approves Baikunth-Urkura 4th line; train connectivity to improve on Howrah-Mumbai corridor

Baikunth–Urkura 4th railway line: The Ministry of Railways on Thursday sanctioned the construction of a fourth railway line between Baikunth and Urkura.

This orange and grey coloured modern train will run between Howrah and Guwahati (Kamakhya).

Malda Town-Kamakhya Vande Bharat Sleeper Express inaugural special: Developed by BEML using ICF technology, this new long-distance semi-high-speed train will further ease overnight journeys.

The highest existing fare on Howrah-Guwahati (Kamakhya Junction) route – in Saraighat Express – is Rs 1,410 (3AC), Rs 1,985 (2AC) and Rs 3,320 (1AC).

Railways officials said that for the 958-km Howrah-Kamakhya route, a passenger would have to shell out Rs 2,970 for second AC and Rs 3,640 for first AC.

The Railways further said that, keeping future requirements in mind, the sanctioned works also include provisions for a fourth railway line.

Mentally unstable man climbs over train in Lucknow

Lucknow, Feb 26 (ANI): Railway officials had a tough time when a man likely to be mentally unstable climbed over the top of Doon Express. After half-an-hour struggle, the Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel succeeded in bringing the man down. Station Master RK Baghel informed that a high-tension wire running over the train created trouble in the rescue work. Eastern Railway's Doon Express runs between Howrah Junction and Dehradun.
