Barley futures rise on short covering

Barley prices up by Rs 17.40 or 1.62 per cent to Rs 1,090 per quintal in futures trading today following fresh buying by traders at existing lower levels.

Marketmen said,short covering by traders after yesterday’s sell off mainly pulled back barley prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) counter,barley prices for June-month contract rose by Rs 17.40 or 1.62 per cent to Rs 1,090 per quintal,with an open interest of 1,380 lots.

May-month contract also inched up Rs 1.80,or 0.17 per cent to Rs 1,053.20 per quintal,having an open interest of 12,210 lots.
