What with the sunburst outside,you would hardly think its the time for colours in your wardrobe. If you are thinking of sticking to good old whites and pastels,you are slightly off the mark there. This season,shades of pink seem to be the new black. Designer Sanchita Ajjampur has designed a resort line that is redolent of Barbies favourite colour. All kinds of bubblegum shades are infrom fuschia to baby pinks. Even dusty pinks and peach are fun, she says. Ajjampurs collection uses animal imagery,but unlike the regular tawn-and-black prints,cranks out pink flamingoes and other interesting motifs.

Designer Neeru Kumars spring-summer 2009 collection has wispy stoles in pink and kurtis in magenta. Likewise,designer Raakesh Agarvwals resort wear builds up a luxurious look around shades of raspberry,pink and even orange. They are tricky colours and need a certain attitude to carry them off well,but we work out an entire look to complement each of the items in the collection perfectly. There are dressy tunics to which you can add a chunky belt,a pair of matching flip-flops,a wide-brimmed hat,and you are ready for the day, he says.
