‘John Abraham’s whole back was full of scratch marks’: Chitrangda Singh recounts mobbing incident as actor tried to protect her
While reflecting on the mobbing incident involving actress Nidhi Agarwal, Chitrangda Singh emphasized that it is the responsibility of the agencies organizing such events to ensure proper crowd management.
Chitrangda Singh recounted a mobbing experience she faced alongside John Abraham while promoting their film I, Me Aur Main.
Just a few weeks ago, disturbing visuals emerged as Samantha Ruth Prabhu was mobbed by an unruly crowd at an event in Hyderabad. A week prior, actress Nidhi Agarwal faced a similar ordeal during the promotional event for Raja Saab in the same city. Such incidents are both unsettling and unfortunate. Now, actress Chitrangda Singh has spoken out about this troubling phenomenon, sharing her own personal experience, one that occurred while she was with John Abraham promoting their film I, Me Aur Main.
In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Chitrangda reflected on how such incidents are not limited to women. “John Abraham and I went and promoted this film we did a long time back, I, Me Aur Main. We went to a Delhi college, and we had to go up on stage and then leave. The crowd started to build up and suddenly I see everybody’s trying to whisk off John and he kind of looked back at me to take me along. He was trying to be protective of me and take me to the car. As soon as we sat in the car, John took off his shirt and his whole back was full of scratch marks. And nothing happened to me because there were so many women in that college.”

She added, “I was just shocked to see that because he was trying to protect me, so he was behind me and then his whole back got scratched. So it just happens to everyone I suppose, it’s not just women.” Reflecting on Nidhi Agarwal’s recent experience, she remarked, “Some of these events can really get out of hand because you have to be able to control the crowd. I was looking at those visuals with Nidhi, and it was scary to see that. It’s probably the duty of the agencies that are managing them to make sure they are safe. But that was scary. I don’t know how they can put them in that space. How could they let them go, how could this happen to them?”
Recently, in an exclusive conversation with SCREEN, Chitrangda spoke about sharing screen space with Salman Khan in Apoorva Lakhia’s period military drama Battle of Galwan. Speaking about working with him, she said, “I never thought I’d do a Salman Khan film because my work is very different from his. But I think it just fit perfectly. When we were shooting, I just felt I was supposed to be a part of it. He’s an amazing actor, honestly. If you see some of his work, like they used to say about Rishi Kapoor, you can never make out that he’s acting. There’s a lot of his persona that he carries.”
