Dekals nomination rejected

Chennai: The nomination of Dr V Dekal,who had performed post-mortem on the body of AM Sadhick Batcha,a close aide of A Raja,has been rejected,officials said on Tuesday. Dekals nomination,an Independent candidate from the suburban Maduravoyal constituency,had been rejected for his failure to provide proof that he was relieved from government service,official sources said. It is learnt he had also not signed the papers,another ground for rejection.

Sonia,Rahul to tour Puducherry

Puducherry: Congress president Sonia Gandhi will address an election rally on April 6 here,to garner support for the Congress-DMK alliance in the Union Territory. PCC leader A V Subramanian said the venue of the meeting is being finalised. Pranab Mukherjee and Rahul Gandhi will also campaign.

DMK MP arrested for attacking rivals

Chennai: Actor and first-time MP from the DMK,JK Ritheesh,and five others were arrested and remanded in custody for allegedly attacking a few villagers from a rival party when both groups were campaigning in Ramanathapuram district. The actor has also been charged under provisions of the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.
