All print and electronic media houses remained shut in Imphal on Sunday in protest against an attack on All Manipur Working Journalist Union president A Mobi Singh. Cadre members of the underground group KYKL-MDF (a splinter group of the larger KYKL insurgent group) lobbed a grenade at Singhs resident at 8.10 pm on Saturday. The group later called different media organisations claiming responsibility for the attack. There were no casualties. Singh had earlier this month issued guidelines to the media in Manipur regarding the publishing of statements and press releases sent by underground groups.
