With the profile of candidates changing and several new avenues of officer intake opening up,the Army has ordered a new study by IIM-Ahmedabad to review its selection process and suggest changes to make it transparent.

The study will look into the current process followed by the service selection board and will recommend a new procedure that will cut down the time taken to evaluate candidates.

At present, the Army takes up to five days to select cadets for officer training institutions. The lengthy process involved restricts the number of selection boards that can be held per year.

The objective of the study is to make the process more fair and transparent. While the report is expected to come within a year,it is not clear when the selection process would finally be amended by the Army.
