Healthcare major Apollo Hospitals today reported 12.53 per cent rise in its net profit at Rs 55.76 crore for the quarter ended September 30,2011 driven by its healthcare services segment.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 49.55 crore for the quarter ended September 30,2010,Apollo Hospitals said in a statement.
Total income of the company stood at Rs 699.75 crore for the quarter ended September 30,2011 as against Rs 586.40 crore for the corresponding period last fiscal.
“Healthcare services have exhibited sustained growth due to a focus on key treatment areas through our COE strategy.
Introduction of robotics,planned across seven key locations will further heighten our clinical offerings and medical outcomes,” Apollo Hospitals Chairman Prathap C Reddy said.
Revenues from the healthcare services segment stood at Rs 491.46 crore during the quarter,as against Rs 420.40 crore in the year ago period.
The company is focusing on centres of excellence in cardiology,oncology,neurosciences,orthopaedics,emergency and transplants and plans to introduce Robotics in seven key locations.
The healthcare chain is also increasing its international presence and is currently evaluating a management agreement deal for a 250-bed hospital in Rwanda in Africa.
It had earlier announced a joint venture with the government of Tanzania to set up a 250-bed tertiary care hospital in Dar es Salaam.
The company is also engaged in a 250-bed hospital project management in Chittagong,which will be the group’s second hospital in Bangladesh.
Scrips of Apollo Hospitals today closed at Rs 537.05 per share on BSE,up 0.85 per cent from its previous close.
