For Ram Vilas Paswan who was swept out of Bihar when the results came, the only consolation prize was a call from Congress president Sonia Gandhis political secretary Ahmed Patel. Patel reportedly not only consoled Paswan but also let him know that the Congress appreciated his support in the UPA. The grapevine had it that the LJP chief took it as a message from Sonia and headed straight for New Delhi. Interestingly,Paswan had not been keen to meet Sonia when she reached out to him before the counting. The wind having blown the other way,Paswan may now be wondering if that indeed was a wrong call to have taken.
