The National Aviation Company of India Limited (NACIL),an entity formed by the merger of Air India and Indian Airlines,has successfully cleared the IATA operational safety audit for safety and quality standards.
“The combined NACIL has successfully completed the audit and received confirmation of audit closure from the Germany-based auditing company,AQS,” a statement from the airlines said.
“NACIL-A (erstwhile Air India) has cleared its fourth IOSA Audit showing its compliance with the IATA operational safety and quality standards. NACIL-I (erstwhile Indian Airlines) has cleared its second IOSA Audit,” it said.
IOSA had brought in new standards in place since July last year and all the airlines have to comply with its various additional requirements as per the new standards.
IOSA is an internationally recognised evaluation system,designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline.
The national carrier’s integrated Quality Management System (QMS) was used in all the functional areas in the airline to ensure compliance with the latest regulatory and international safety standards.
Air India was the first airline in India and one of the first in the world to obtain IOSA registry in the year 2003.
Subsequently,Air India has undergone renewal audits successfully.
