Advance session to pass Bill: JDU

The JDU on Tuesday asked the government to advance the Monsoon session of Parliament and pass the Food Security Bill after an exhaustive discussion

The JDU on Tuesday asked the government to advance the Monsoon session of Parliament and pass the Food Security Bill after an exhaustive discussion.

Speaking to the media,JDU chief Sharad Yadav wondered why the government was in a tearing hurry to promulgate an ordinance, instead of waiting for the Monsoon session to commence; more so,when the Bill had been pending for four years. Yadav said the issue of food security was linked to the destiny of farmers . What would happen to the food security?, he asked.

Regarding the IPL episode,he said it showed that the Congress and BJP were working at tandem with each other. They got together to keep out NCP chief and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, he said in an apparent reference to the way Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla had made a common cause against Pawar.
