2 Maoist sympathisers under lens

The association between Maoists and those fighting for Kashmiri cause is not a new phenomenon.

Following the arrest of Syed Ghulam Nabi Fai by the FBI,two Maoist sympathisers have come under the scanner, with the Union Home Ministry reportedly asking the Intelligence Bureau to gather information about the kind of ties they had with Fai.

Confirming that a report on the links between Fai and his Indian contacts had been sought,a senior MHA official said,The association between Maoists and those fighting for Kashmiri cause is not a new phenomenon. The Maoists had long supported Kashmirs cause. Since Kashmir is an unresolved issue, the Maoists extend support to people for struggle against Indian security forces.

Reports of Fais association with a large number of distinguished Indians are being verified. As far as his association with Maoist sympathisers is concerned,we had long suspected that Maoists had been receiving help from foreign countries, said another MHA official. We will also contact those in India who have attended Fais seminars.

Sources in the MHA said they had been on trail of the supply of arms and ammunition to Maoists in the country. This consignment, still to be delivered to the cadres,is suspected to have been supplied by the ISI.

Sources said CPI Maoist general secretary Ganapathy aka Mupalla Laxman Rao,in one of his interviews, has supported the Kashmir cause.
