Stand-in captain Rahul Dravid today blamed the collective failure of the star-studded batting line-up for the series defeat against Australia and said India needed to learn from the world champions in preparing for a series.
8220;We have been outplayed in Bangalore and Nagpur. We have not scored as many runs as we should have and that8217;s one of the major reasons for our defeats,8221; said Dravid.
8220;Australia have also planned very well for this tour and we need to learn from the way they have gone about preparing for this series,8221; Dravid said.
Pointing out the success the same set of Indian team members had achieved in Australia last season when they very nearly won the series, Dravid said that the difference was in batting.
8220;We scored lot of runs in Australia. When that happens it8217;s always a big advantage. Another difference was the presence of McGrath and Warne here,8221; said Dravid.
Dravid also blamed the wicket prepared for the tie in an indirect manner.
8220;I don8217;t think it was a good wicket, but from a larger picture I would like to see whether the same authorities would take the same pain in preparing similar wickets when under-15 and other junior level domestic ties are conducted,8221; he said.
