DUBAI, NOVEMBER 15: Former Australian speedster Craig McDermott says Mark Waugh and Shane Warne should have been banned after being accused of taking money from an Indian bookie during the Sri Lanka tour in 1994.``The Australian Cricket Board (ACB) should have banned them for their act. Such an action from ACB would have made younger players think before wrecking their careers,'' McDermott, the third highest wicket taker for Australia after Warne and Dennis Lillee, told the Gulf News. McDermott, now a successful player in real estate as the managing director of the McDermott Property Group Ltd, was in Dubai to appear on Channel 4FM on Wednesday as part a promotion campaign.``Any player who has been involved in match-fixing or has been named in that connection should be banned. They have done irreparable damage to the game.'' he said.McDermott regards Gavaskar as the greatest batsman he has bowled to. ``It is very difficult to define his weakness. He was mentally very strong and being a short man I could not bounce and hit him on his chest or head to disturb him. Any kind of abuse too never worked with him.''
