NEW DELHI, June 11: You might have seen them on one of the many music channels that dot the television landscape, generally playing their music, singing and sinking.

That8217;s right, sinking. It might sound rather weird but then the song is titled Dooba dooba8216;, so it8217;s only right that they should be going down like the Titanic.

Fortunately, though, one can8217;t say the same thing about this Delhi-based music group, Silk Route, who are all set to go higher. In fact, all three band members 8212; Kem Triv-edi, Mohit Chandra and Atul Mittal 8212; are pretty confident that they8217;ll make a difference. Says Kem, who plays the flute and the keyboard: 8220;What we write is a very natural sort of music, it8217;s very emotive, very heartfelt, it8217;s the music of travel.8221; Silk Route, in fact, has come up with a very Indian sound, with a lot of folk element in it. That is courtesy Mohit and Atul, who are from Himachal Pradesh and are strongly based in the music of the hills. While Mohit and Kem have no formal training in music, Atul learnt music at Sanawar, where he led the 30-piece school band. Atul was so much in love with music that he even ran away from home in 1981 and came to Delhi to pursue his heart8217;s desire. All for love, as they say!

Today, the trio seem well on their way to fame with their debut album, Boondein, what with the subcontinent ruling the music waves, from Junoon to Lucky Ali. And now Silk Route. The only hitch so far, though, has been in the filming of the video, done by Ravi Udyavar for BMG Crescendo. 8220;We kept getting wet, and I don8217;t even know how to swim,8221; laughs Mohit.8220;It was funny, we would come out of the water, dry ourselves and 10 minutes later, splash, we were back in it. Four days of wetness.8221; Literally, Dooba dooba!
