
MUMBAI, NOV 8: Saket Wali of Otters Club was made to undergo a litmus test by Anant More, the professional from the Cricket Club of India, on the second day of the open event in the 55th Credit Agricole Indosuez CCI Open Western India Squash Tournament here today at CCI Courts.
Anant, 37, stared at defeat ten minutes into the match as the score read 2-9 3-9. But he rejuvenated himself and won the next two games 9-2 9-4, to put pressure on Saket. However, age and stamina prevailed in the decider as Saket wrapped up the match 9-1.
In the under-12 event, Rachit Parikh of CCI prevailed over Ishaan Balvani of Otters Club in a closely contested pre-quarter final match. It was anybody8217;s game with the scores tied 8-all in the decider. But Rachit survived using timely drops in succession to clinch the game. Rachit won 5-9 9-7 2-9 9-7 10-9. In the under-16 event, a hard-fought 35-minute tussle between Deepak Yadav and Karanpal Sethi of Otters Club yielded a nail-biting finish. Karanpal lost the match 7-9 6-9 9-89-1 8-10.
The seeds in the various juniors and open events faced little trouble on way to the pre-quarter finals.
