Coastal Tamil Nadu is likely to get more rain on Thursday, according to the weather forecast by India Meteorological Department (IMD). In Chennai, the skies are likely to be partly cloudy.

As per the latest IMD bulletin: “Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places over coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal area [on December 8]. Dry weather is likely to prevail over
interior Tamil Nadu.”

The maximum temperature in Chennai is likely to be around 29 degrees Celsius and the minimum could hover around 23 degrees Celsius.

Rainy weekend ahead in Chennai

The IMD said under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation, a low-pressure area formed over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a Depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal on Wednesday and then continue west-northwestwards across Southwest Bay of Bengal.

Due to this, on Saturday (December 10), Chennai and adjoining districts is likely to get moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur in some areas. Heavy rain is likely to continue on Sunday. A heavy rain warning has been issued for the region on both days.
