
NIMES, FRANCE, October 24: Germany8217;s Jorg Rosskopf and Sweden8217;s Jan-Ove Waldner virtually qualified for tomorrow8217;s World Cup quarter-finals following convincing victories at the Parnasse Venue, here, today.
World number eight Rosskopf had a crushing 21-6, 21-18 win over 1995 world champion Kong Linghui in a repeat of the 1995 final which the Chinese won.
Waldner had the better of home hope and last minute entrant Christophe Legout 21-13, 21-19 and, like Rosskopf, must wait till this evening8217;s last matches to see whether he has qualified.
However, all is not lost for Legout, who only learned on Tuesday night he would be playing when 1991 world champion Jorgen Persson of Sweden pulled out with a back injury.
World number 13 Huang had an easy victory over Oceania champion Peter Jackson of New Zealand 21-13, 21-9.
