Indicating further closeness with the Mayawati-led party, CPIM has asked its cadre to vote for 8220;non-Congress secular parties like BSP8221; in the coming state elections where the party and CPI are not contesting.
In its assessment of the current political situation prevailing in the country, the CPIM told its cadre to work for ousting BJP from power in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh while keeping the Congress at bay.
8220;Apart from seats where we or CPI are contesting, we should vote for non-Congress secular parties like BSP,8221; the 8216;Report on Political Developments8217; adopted by CPIM Central Committee said.
Interestingly, the CPIM had earlier dubbed the BSP as a 8220;casteist8221; formation in the political resolution adopted at the XIX party Congress held in Coimbatore.
8220;The BSP has emerged as a strengthened force after the elections in UP. It has used its base among the Dalits to build a wider coalition of caste politics. This sort of caste based political mobilisation is sought to be introduced in other states by the BSP,8221; the resolution had said.
However, the CPIM resolution at the Congress was of the view that BSP will be an 8220;important factor8221; in states like Madhya Pradesh and Delhi, which is going to polls next month, though it will not ally with any other party for elections.
Though the 8216;Report on Political Developments8217; did not hazard a guess on the prospects of BJP in poll-bound states where they are ruling, the party said, it is 8220;widely expected8221; that the Congress government in Delhi will be ousted from power.
Noting that the BJP is striving its 8220;utmost8221; to retain power in Madhya Pradesh, Chhatisgarh and Rajasthan, the CPIM said, 8220;in these states, we should call for the defeat of the BJP and the ouster of their governments and also oppose the policies of the Congress.
8220;8230;In Delhi, we should oppose both the Congress and the BJP,8221; it said.
The report said the BJP was actively wooing some of the regional parties ahead of the elections and AGP and INLD, which were part of the erstwhile UNPA, has already aligned with the saffron party.
8220;In Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, the BJP has so far not succeeded in getting any ally with significant support,8221; it said.
The report also noted that the image of the UPA government and Congress has 8220;further eroded8221; in the recent times.
The party said UPA8217;s handling of Amarnath land row, terror attacks, rising communal violence and 8220;insensitivity8221; towards minorities, 8220;failure8221; to tackle price rise and 8220;complete preoccupation8221; with the nuclear deal has 8220;dented8221; the image of the Central government.
The CPIM said the Congress which is hailing the nuclear deal as a historic achievement will make it a 8220;major plank8221; in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
8220;This has to be countered by a big campaign exposing the surrender to the US and the harmful consequences of implementing such a deal,8221; the report said.
The party said soon after the trust vote, the Congress has been taking steps to gear up the party machinery for facing the Lok Sabha elections.
