VMC, DoT to adopt code

The release further said that Municipal Commissioner G R Aloria handed over a copy of town planning scheme and also a book-let containing details of the various types of works proposed to be undertaken by the VMC in 1999-2000 and requested the GM Telecom to submit similar details.

While offering his co-operation to the DoT in cable laying, Aloria informed that most of the newly constructed roads have been provided with road crossing pipes at regular intervals which could be used by all the agencies including VMC, DoT and GEB. He directed his engineers to give details of these pipes to the concerned officials of other agencies.

Aloria further informed the Telecom officials that the VMC had taken up the plans for computerisation of various underground facilities gas lines, water lines, sewer lines etc on geographical land-based maps and agreed to share such maps with DoT and GEB so that details of electric and telecom network can also be marked on the maps for building data base for common use.

On a proposal from the GM, DoT, Aloria agreed to incorporate suitable amendment in the building bye-laws to make mandatory provision for telephone and electricity cables in building plans.
