The VHP said here today that the Supreme Court verdict on Ayodhya may make Hindus desperate and angry.
VHP vice-president Acharya Giriraj Kishore said: 8216;8216;It judgement is surprising. Should the Hindus always suffer for the sake of communal harmony? This decision may arouse anger among Hindus and make them desperate. It would certainly widen the gulf between the two communities.8217;8217;
He went on to declare that 8216;8216;if Muslims want to buy peace and social harmony, they should respect the sentiments of Hindus. They can not have peace by annoying Hindus and hurting their feelings.8217;8217;
The VHP leader said that the Supreme Court, while rejecting the Centre8217;s plea to vacate the stay on religious activity on the undisputed land, had not explained the point of law involved in the issue.
The VHP, according to him, could not wait endlessly for a judicial resolution of the dispute. He felt that the title would take at least five years to conclude. 8216;8216;The other side will go in appeal to the Supreme Court thereafter,8217;8217; he said adding with sarcasm that 8216;8216;some Aslam Bhure would also crop up in between.8217;8217;
Kishore declared that the VHP would force the Centre to enact a legislation for handing over both the disputed and undisputed sites at Ayodhya to the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas for the construction of temple.
The VHP leader exclaimed: 8216;8216;Puneh mushak bhav Be a mouse again8217;8217; 8212; alluding to the story of a mouse which was turned into a cat, a lion and back into a mouse by a seer 8212; when asked about the VHP8217;s response if the BJP backtracked on its support to Ayodhya. He apparently implied that the Parishad would take the BJP back to its tally of two Lok Sabhas seats 8212; way back in 1984 8212; before it placed Ayodhya on its agenda.
