Vasant, Settu bag double

Vasant Mayur of Maharashtra and S Settu of Tamil Nadu bagged doubles in the 2nd GVK AISTA Senior National Ranking Tennis Championship, which concluded at the Practennis courts, Andheri on Sunday.

Vasant Mayur of Maharashtra and S Settu of Tamil Nadu bagged doubles in the 2nd GVK AISTA Senior National Ranking Tennis Championship, which concluded at the Practennis courts, Andheri on Sunday. While Mayur Vasant won the singles and doubles title in the over-45 category, S Settu claimed a double in over-55 category. D S Rama Rao claimed the doubles in the over-55 category, while he finished runner-up in the singles.

In the singles final of over-45, eighth seed Vasant Mayur blanked third seed V Srinivasa Reddy AP 6-0, 6-0. Mayur then partnered Chetan Desai and toppled the top seed pairing of R.V.Rama Raju 038; G.Krishnam Raju AP 6-1, 6-0.

In the over-55 category, third seed S. Settu TN had to sweat it out to overcome a stiff challenge from the unseeded D S Rama Rao to clinch the title 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. S Settu was rattled and nervous after the second set, which was won by Rama Rao.

He matched his game with S.Settu by playing drop shots, serve and volley, and also hitting winners on both the sides. Finally the fit and energetic S Settu was lucky to win the match due to the unforced errors committed by Rama Rao.

In the over-65 category top seed S Parekh Mah bt third seed V.R.Kulkarni Kar 6-3, 6-4.
