GANDHINAGAR, Sept 28: Gujarat Chief Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela is busy chalking out populist measures with an eye on possible general elections in the state, even as pradesh Congress chief C D Patel on Sunday began analysing political consequences in case the Congress decides to withdraw support to the Vaghela government.

Patel, who returned here from Delhi last night, told The Indian Express that he had been asked by the Central leadership to work on two theories separately: One whether to continue the party support to the Vaghela Government with some conditions and the other if there is possibility of a change in leadership. Patel, however, asserted that the Congress would never share power with the present government.

According to Congress sources, the state leadership is planning to submit a report demanding withdrawal and while modalities for the same are worked out;the support could be made conditional.

On the other hand, Vaghela is all set to formally implement his government’s recent decision on bifurcation of six districts and 48 talukas. Sources said efforts were also on to get a court stay vacated to facilitate the governemnt to implement the ambitious Balguru Yojana to provide employment to about 20,000 unemployed primary teachers.

Rebel Revenue Minister Atmaram Patel maintained a low profile today but re-iterated his claim for chief ministership but said that he had temporarily decided to adopt a wait and watch policy.
