Loot avertedAn alert watchman averted a major theft in the Makarpura area in the wee hours on Thursday. According to information, the guard Purushottam Parmar, employed by the Vishwamitri Township Society, spotted a gang of miscreants and asked them about their purpose of roaming the area at 4 a.m. Though grievously hurt by the gang members, Parmar raised an alarm following which the society members pelted stones on the miscreants and compelled them to run away. Parmar was admitted to the S S G Hospital, society members told Express Newsline. The police expressed ignorance about the incident.Cheating casePanigate police has registered a case of cheating against 3 employees of the Government Ayurvedic Hospital. An official release said on Thursday that hospital superintendent has complained that one Nagin Parmar, Ramesh Vasava and V M Chauhan had cheated the hospital of about Rs 84,000. Police said that a case has been registered and is being investigated.Threatening callsThe M S university arts faculty teacher P N Jha reported to the Makarpura police on Thursday that some unknown miscreants had been telephonically threatening him of death for the past several days. He said that the callers were neither pointing out any rivalry nor any other issue. Police said a case under Section 507 IPC had been registered and was being looked into.Vehicles liftedAn ambassador car (GJ-6-U-457) belonging to one M M Pathan, resident of Fatehgunj and an auto-rickshaw (GJ-6-B-9089) of one G U Rathod, resident of Gotri road area, were reported to have been lifted from Sayajigunj area, police said on Thursday. Cases have been registered in the respective police stations and are being investigated.Traffic casesTraffic police challaned about 500 vehicles on Thursday and recovered fines worth about Rs 21,000, according to an official release.
