MSU search committee meet held
The three-member search committee, to decide on the next vice-chancellor of M S University, met here on Tuesday. The panel members include former MSU pro vice-chancellor Veena Mistry, former Union minister Y K Alagh and Praveen Maniar of Saurashtra University.

AIR stir off
The 25 All India Radio announcers from the eight stations in Gujarat, who had gone on mass casual leave for two days, ended their agitation on Tuesday. A spokesman of the Akashwani Announcers8217; Association said the stir had been withdrawn following a Central government assurance to consider their demand for promotion avenues without delay.

Meeting today
The Kutch-Saurashtra Cyclone Relief Committee constituting members and representatives of the Sarvodaya Mandal, PUCL, Sahiyar, Swashray, Inqalabi Communist Sanghatan, Hind Mazdoor Sabha, Socialist Unity Centre of India along with M S University teaching staff and the general public will hold a meeting on Wednesday at the Sardar Bhavan, near Jubilee Garden from 4 p.m. to discuss relief measures for the cyclone-hit areas of Kutch and Saurashtra.

GEB fine
The Gujarat Electricity Board GEB has fined power pilferers Rs 2 crore between May 21 and 31, according to an official release.

Rainfall in Kwant
Parts of Kwant taluka of the district recorded about 5 mm rainfall in the past 24 hours. With this the rainfall in Kwant has totalled at 77 mm, 59 mm in Jetpurpavi, 33 mm in Dabhoi, 35 mm in Chhotaudepur, and 45 mm in Sankheda, so far. Meanwhile, the weather office has forecast heavy rains in the southern parts of the State in the next 24 hours.

Free books
The Baroda Citizens Council will distribute note-books and exercise-books free of cost to school-going street children on Wednesday at the Sardar Patel Planetarium, Sayajibaug, from 11 a.m.

New batch
The Ambalal Sarabhai Foundation will start a new batch for the six-month Medical Laboratory Technology Course from the current academic term. Science graduates are eligible to apply for the course. Application forms will be available at the Foundation office at Bombay Shopping Centre, Race Course Road, during office hours except Sundays and holidays.

2-day seminar
