Special quota of rice for Holi
The District Supply Office has sanctioned a special quota of 400 tonnes of rice for Chhotaudepur, Nasvadi, Kwant, Jetpurpavi and Sankheda taluka under the PDS for the ensuing Holi festival. DSO Ashok Singh said a decision in the context was taken during a meeting with State Food and Civil Supplies Department Director R M Joshi on Saturday. Joshi was in the city to review the overall PDS services in the district.

Gaddiwala becomes assistant director
Yuqub R Gaddiwala, working as a senior sub-editor with the Information Department, Vadodara, has been promoted as assistant director in the same department at Navsari. According to a statement on Sunday, Gaddiwala served in the capacity for the past 18 years.

Dakorwala gets Ph D from MSU N K Dakorwala of the department of English, M S University has been awarded a Ph d degree for his dissertation on, Nationalism and Contemporary African American Drama.’ He completed his dissertation under the guidance of Department head P C Kar.

VMC oppn leaders threaten stir
Opposition leaders in the Vadodara Municipal Corporation Kanchanbhai Parmar, Nandu Pardesi and I D Patel have threatened to sit on a hunger strike outside the Municipal Commissioner’s office if not provided with adequate information regarding certain water works to be undertaken in the city. The opposition leaders stated that the lack of information had raised some doubts about the deals.
