
55th EME Corps Day
The 55th EME Corps Day will be celebrated at the EME school, followed by a Badakhana on October 12. It will be held at the Eugene Stadium of EME School at 7 pm. All JCOs and retired personnel of the EME school interested in taking part in the event should contact subedar major M C Chacko on 481762/212 or 481762/213 by October 7.
Selected
A total 20 children, between three and six, were selected at the final round of the Bell Ceramic child contest, which was held in the city on Sunday. Parents of selected children were also briefed about the company8217;s product.
IGNOU course
The Vadodara IGNOU study centre will conduct BSc lab courses from October 12. The courses will be conducted for Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences. BSc students are requested to attend these courses as they are compulsory for the programme.
VMC project
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation has undertaken a project to construct as many as 1272 low-cost houses on allotted reserve plots for the economically weaker sections of the society. In a statement, Municipal Commissioner A G Aloria said the houses would be constructed in Manjalpur, Nizampura, Gorwa, Karelibaug, Diwalipura areas under a housing scheme for economically backward classes.
Takes charge
P J Thomas has taken over as Joint Commissioner, Food and Drugs Laboratory, Vadodara, from October 1, an official release said. With a Ph D degree from M S University and pioneering work in the analysis of herbal drugs, Thomas who has also authored several books, is a member of several scientific and professional bodies.
Open book test
The Jain Institute will conduct an open book examination on November 1 on the book Tatvagyan Praveshika. Those interested can collect forms from Jain Temple, Nizampura; Kalpana Classes, Raopura or Chirag Dhruv, 9, Sonali Society, Karelibaug. Prizes will be given to toppers.
Convention
As many as 50 Muslim women from Gujarat participated in a national convention of Muslim women held at the Talkatora grounds in New Delhi recently. The convention deliberated on political, economic, educational and social backwardness of the Muslim women, according to Ganibhai Qureishi, president of the Gujarat Minority Morcha.
Mother Care
A number of cultural and educative programmes were organised by the District Health Department and the Vadodara Municipal Corporation to mark the ongoing Mother Care Week8217;. According to Assistant Deputy Director, Health, U V Yavalkar and VMC Chief Medical Officer Shirish Patel, a number of programmes and camps were held at various parts of the city as well as rural areas of Panchmahals and Bharuch.
