DSO receives 900 fake ration cards
Following an appeal through the district8217;s 900 fair price shops two months ago, the District Supply Office has received more than 15,000 bogus8217; ration cards. 8220;FPS owners were requested to ask all card-holders to get new cards. Hence the detection8221;, DSO D G Khachar said.

Honour for EME
EME School, Vadodara, has received the Golden Peacock National Training Award for imparting quality training. The award was received by EME School Commandant Major-General M C Sebastin from Industries Minister Sikander Bakht at a function in New Delhi on July 29. The award, presented annually by the Institute of Directors, is much sought-after.

Resolution
A meeting of the Vadodara Labour Laws Practitioners8217; Association resolved on Tuesday to find out a solution to the dispute between trade union leader Sarlaben Krishna Kurup and senior advocate H M Pathan by meeting Baroda Bar Association president Narendra Tiwari and persuading the two to withdraw their respective police cases.

Debate prizes
Vaishali Bhosle bagged the first prize, Priyanka Agnihotri came second and Manharpreet Arora third in a debate organised recently by Silver Oak School, Vadodara, in support of the Indian soldiers in Kargil. I M Shaikh, Sachi Majmudar and Bharti Sharma were the judges.

Workshop
Members of the Homoeopathic Education and Charitable Trust, Vadodara, will organise a two-day scientific workshop on treatment of various ailments for homoeopathic doctors and students at Ashirvad Hospital, opposite Polo Ground, from August 6. The first coordination meeting of all members of the Vadodara Estate Bankers8217; Association will be held at Bhadralok8217;, Old Padra Road, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The meeting will be followed by a dinner.

Procession
Members of the Dawoodi Bohra community celebrated the 88th birth anniversary of their religious head Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin by taking out a procession from the Dawoodi Bohra mosque behind Jamnabai Hospital in Ladwada and holding a mass feast at Doodhwala community hall in Panigate on Monday morning. Mayor Umakant Joshi, Gujarat Minority Board chairman Ghanibhai Qureshi and Leader of Opposition in the Vadodara Municipal Corporation Kanchanbhai Parmar were present when the procession began.

Deferred
The judgment in the contempt case lodged against the Vadodara Municipal Corporation for demolishing 130 cabins in Lehripura two years ago has been postponed till Wednesday.
