PRIME MINISTER Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat for the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) to be organised in Rajkot in January, the state government said on Wednesday.
Government spokesperson and senior minister Jitu Vaghani added that a detailed programme of the PM’s visit was being worked out.
Vaghani told mediapersons, “A programme is being finalised at the level of the Prime Minister’s Office. They are in discussions with the Chief Minister’s Office. We will share the exact details of the tour once we get instructions. But the PM will definitely visit the VGRC for the Saurashtra-Kutch region.”
After organising 10 editions of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit at the state level, the Gujarat government has now started organising four regional summits in the state. And the first such event – for north Gujarat – was organised at Mehsana in October. The next VGRC is scheduled at Rajkot for the Saurashtra-Kutch region.
In 2003, the Gujarat government, led by the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi, started organising the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in 2003. Since then, it has emerged as a key initiative of the state government to attract investment. After that, the government has come up with the VGRC, a decentralised version in which the event will be held in four regions of the state.
The other two regions where VGRC will be held include central Gujarat and south Gujarat.
