No pipeline gas today
Residents living on either side of the road between Sayaji Gardens and Fatehganj crossroads will not be supplied pipeline gas between 1 pm and 5 pm on Friday as the Vadodara Municipal Corporation will repair a main pipeline near Hotel Kalyan in Fatehganj.

Policy protest
Several women8217;s organisations of the city came together on a common platform on Thursday to protest against the new grant-in-aid policy, which proposes a cut in grants for girls8217; education. They held a demonstration near Kothi and said that since few girls went in for studies in the State, rural girls would lose out on education altogether if the concept of free education was abolished.

Kavi sammelan
Eminent poets will recite their poems at a kavi sammelan at the Gandhi Nagar Gruh on Friday night in honour of the Kargil martyrs. The poets scheduled to participate include Surendra Sharma, M Verma, Heeraj Puri, Ashkaran Atal, M Mrugesh, Dr Sita Sagar and Subhash Kabra, a press note released by the Maheshwari Yuva Manch, the organisers, said, adding that cheques for Rs 40,000 would be given to the kin of each martyr present at the function.

Air Force awards
Meritorious children of Air Force personnel were awarded cheques for Rs 500 and certificates at a function at the Air Force Station. President of Air Force Wives8217; Welfare Association Indira Rajkumar was present on the occasion.

BUTA panel
The Baroda University Teachers8217; Association has formed a committee headed by its ex-president Ashokbhai Reddy to work on the workload norms of every department. The committee has called a covering council meeting to look into departmental problems.

YC secretary
Kishor Vitthaldas Sheth has been appointed secretary of the youth wing of the Congress8217;s city unit by youth wing chief Narendra Rawat. Sheth joined the party recently, following the merger of the Rashtriya Janata Party with the Congress.

Annual issue
The first annual issue of Feelings, a magazine published from Vadodara, was released by Professor Priyakant Parikh, novelist, at a function here on Monday. The magazine deals with various issues of day-to-day life.

IIMM AGM
The annual general meeting and election of office-holders of the Indian Institute of Materials Management, Vadodara branch, will be held at Vanijya Bhavan, Race Course, on Friday evening.
