Lecture for army persons
A lecture will be organised at the EME stadium on Thursday to apprise retired Army personnel and widows of army personnel about employment schemes meant for them. A press release issued here said that the lecture would begin at 5 p.m and senior officials from the New Delhi-based Directorate General (resettlement) would deliver it.
SSC exams
The examinations for those students who had failed one subject during their SSC will be held on July 17. The two-hour examinations would be held in two sessions. Students appearing for the examinations should take note.
No VMC cars
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation on Tuesday withdrew official vehicles given to the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor and the Standing Committee chairman. Municipal Commissioner G R Aloria said the vehicles have been withdrawn in connection with the model code of conduct which has come into force from July 11.
Postponed
The interviews for teachers under the Vidya Sahayak scheme has been postponed due to the enforcement of the model code of conduct following announcement of Lok Sabha election dates, according to the District Primary Education Officer. The interviews were to be held from July 16 to 20. New dates will be intimated to the candidates later on.
GEB holiday
The administrative offices of the Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB) will remained closed on Wednesday. In lieu of July 14, the offices will remain open on July 24, fourth Saturday.
Inaugurated
Managing Director of Alembic Chirayu Amin on Tuesday inaugurated the company’s corporate conference centre today. This modern in-house training centre, situated in the Alembic campus, has a capacity of 200. To coincide with the opening of the Centre, author of the best seller “You can win”, Shiv Khera, began a three-day workshop on “Blueprint for success” for company executives.
RTO staff held
Surat: The anti-corruption bureau caught RTO inspector Mahendra Dabkawala and his assistant Nagin Patel accepting a bribe (Rs 20!) from a truck driver at Bhilad check post. The ACB also recovered Rs 2000 from Dabkawala and Rs 480 from Patel. Both are in judicial custody.
