CM to meet VMC reps
Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel will meet representatives of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation VMC on Wednesday to solicit their views on abolishing octroi from the State. Standing Committee Chairman N V Patel said the Chief Minister had convened a meeting of mayors, deputy mayors, standing committee chairmen of different municipal corporations. Leaders of municipalities have also been called. The Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry GCCI had demanded abolition of octroi recently.

Delhi terminal
An additional Delhi terminal will be opened at the Vadodara Railway Station to facilitate those seeking reservations in trains originating and passing through Delhi. According to official information, this has been done to reduce the pressure on the common Delhi and Howrah terminal where reservations are done for Delhi, Howrah and Secunderabad.

Petrol seized
The district supply officials raided the S R Petrol Pump, Nizampura on Tuesday and initiated legal proceedings against the pump for not maintaining records of purchase, stock and sale of diesel and petrol. Diesel worth about Rs 39,000 and petrol worth about Rs 2 lakh was seized.

Resigns
Bharti Vyas and Deputy Mayor Dinesh Chokshi on Tuesday resigned from the Standing Committee of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation on Tuesday. The resignation letters were given to party leader Umakant Joshi.

Entries invited
The Indian National Suggestion Schemes Association has invited entries for a national-level suggestion scheme contest on the theme Reinforcing the Commitment of Employees Through Employees Involvement8217;. An entry fee of Rs 100 will be charged for the contest, which would be held in mid-November. The last date for entry is August 30. 2-day workshop
The Womens Studies Research Centre WSRC, M S University will host a two-day workshop on A Profile of Women in Gujarat8217; at the Residency bungalow from July 27. The workshop, to be inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Padma Ramchandran, is the result of a project of the same name by a team of academicians from the MSU.

Discussion
A discussion on the Women8217;s Reservation Bill, Issues and Implications8217; will be held on Wednesday by the Forum for Political Studies in the Political science department, Arts faculty. The participants include Nandini Manjrekar Women8217;s Studies Research Centre, Raja Ram Sociology dept P M Patel and Lajwanti Political Science dept.

Dharna
Members of the Anti-price Rise Campaign Committee will sit on dharna at the Gandhi Nagar Gruh on Wednesday afternoon to protest against the government8217;s failure to control spiralling prices of essential commodities. The committee includes Naginbhai Patel, Keshavrao Surve, Bafatisha Diwan and Dahiben Mali.
