CHANDIGARH, JUNE 15: The Chandigarh Administration today convened a workshop of nodal officers of its departments/offices/corporations/boards on the year 2000 Y2K problem. Organised in collaboration with National Informatics Centre, the workshop was chaired by K.A.P. Sinha, UT Joint Secretary, Finance.

The nodal officers were apprised of the Y2K problem and its impact in different departments.

The NIC would own the responsibility where the software has been developed by it. However, where the software has been developed by other agencies, the nodal officers should report the software Y2K complaint with that agency only.

Regarding the hardware, it was discussed that the concerned agency should get their Hardware Y2K problems by the concerned venders by the stipulated date. The chairman emphasised that the problem be given utmost importance and that the nodal officers will be responsible for getting the hardware, software and application software installed at their offices within the stipulated date.
