With a 13-member Norwegian Labour Party delegation visiting the AICC headquarters last Thursday, the foreign affairs cell of the Congress was seen desperately looking for people to match the strength of the visitors. Half of the eight representatives that the ruling party finally managed to gather had nothing to do with foreign affairs. Among the Congress delegates were Foreign Affairs Cell chairperson Dr Karan Singh, secretary Ravni Thakur, senior party leader Devendra Dwivedi, former minister of state for external affairs Salman Khursheed, Ex-Servicemen Cell secretary Praveen Davar, who once looked after foreign affairs in the Youth Congress, Vishwajit Singh who looks after the party8217;s computer department, AICC Secretary rtd Major Ved Prakash and former AICC secretary Dalbir Singh. Even this strength was soon depleted as Karan Singh and Khursheed left the meeting midway. But that was not before Karan Singh had explained to the curious Norwegian delegation the 8220;difference8221; between the UPA and NDA. 8220;You see we UPA are secular and they NDA are not so secular,8221; he said.
